Any takers for Cistus cuttings? – I need space in the greenhouse…
Five varieties but currently labeled 1 thru 5 because dogs don’t respect plant labels. I can identify them as they flower, or you can take your chance as follows:
Cistus ‘Ann Baker’: 2.5’ height x 5’ spread; Flowering May to September
Cistus ‘Jessamy Beauty’: 3’ x 5’; June & July
Cistus ‘Little Gem’: 3’ x 4’: May & June
Cistus x dansereaui ‘Decumbens’: 2’ x 4’; May to July
Cistus ‘Snow Fire’: 4.5’ x 4.5’: April to August
A high pressure water jet is good. Use a pump action sprayer so that you can build up pressure and then have one hand free to turn over the leaves and spray the underside. Squish plenty by hand – it also makes you feel better – the aroma of aphid corpses will attract more predators like lady bugs and lacewings to help with control.
Insecticidal soap can be a next-level control, but then you don’t get so much help from the predators.
These plants were started for the Lane County Master Gardener Plant Sale, so I’m looking for a donation to LCMGA if you want starts. Same as for the seeds – I will put plants in the driveway box for pickup – you can post donations in the mailbox…
Stay well and happy gardening….
I’ve got saved seeds with good germination for the following – I don’t know the varieties, but I grew them all last year with good results and I have also starts growing for 2020:
Let me know if you want them and I will put individual packets in the box at the end of my driveway. Just swing by on your next trip to BiMart.
