January Club Meeting – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Refuse
Happy New Year!
Westside Garden Club will meeting today, 10 am – noon at the Veneta Community Center.
Come and hear a brief talk on composting by our very own Master Composter Nora Webber. Nora will share how to make composting easy and simple for you and your household.
We will also hear Heather Blake of the Elmira Grange discuss the Grange’s new plastic collection and the proper way to recycle plastic and avoid putting it in the landfill.
Lastly, we will have a club round table and club members will show their favorite ways of reusing items to reduce waste. If you have something you would like to share, please bring it with you and show off your creativity!
As we start the new decade, let’s focus on being even better stewards of the land, beyond our gardens.
Annual Solstice and Holiday Potluck

The Westside Gardeners’ Club is hosting its annual Winter Solstice and Christmas party.

What: Potluck – Bring your favorite dish to share and something to drink
There will be a classic rock and blues band, 2-Lane playing your favorite covers. So bring your dance shoes!
Partners and Spouses are welcome to join you.
For those inclined, we will have a gift exchange. If you would like to participate, please bring a wrapped gift of $10 or less.

December Meeting – Holiday Wreath Making – ELMIRA GRANGE
Time: 10:00 am to Noon
Join us for our annual holiday wreath making event. Bring some greenery from your garden, ribbons, and a wreath form, and create your holiday wreath. We will have additional decorations provided by the ever crafty Becca and Janine. If you have additional holiday motif fabric, ribbons or decor, please bring to share.
These are always a fun social event, where you get to peek into other club members creative thinking. Some members are so surprising and talented!
November Meeting – Drought, deer resistant, pollinator garden design
Time: 10:00 AM – Noon
Please join us at the Veneta Community Center and hear Cynthia from Doak Creek give a soil prep and garden design talk. She will use our Community garden bed as an example for size, sun and use to expertly design one of the beds as our future Pollinator Garden.
Weather permitting, after the club meeting, we will have a hands on garden bed planting and put the plan into action! Bring gardening gear if you would like to participate. Snacks and drinks will be provided. It should be a fun, social, hands on learning experience!
